When Trauma Becomes an Identity

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

You are not what you’ve experienced. You are not your trauma. You are not your pain.

Yes, it has happened to you. It has profoundly shaped you. It has sometimes felt like it could consume you.

You are the being underneath the pain. You are the soul having the experience. You are the consciousness that has the ability to witness the experience, gain what you can from it, and leave the rest behind.

Your essence is bigger than any trauma. Your energy is greater than any wound. Who you are cannot be boxed in, taken from you, destroyed, manipulated or confined.

The experience was the lesson. It is fodder for your growth.

The experience has nothing to do with your worthiness. It does not define who you are at the core.

When you strip away the outside layers, you remember who you are beneath it all.

You are sovereign. You are loved. You are free. You are whole. You are perfect just as you are.
